Netomnia, the UK’s fastest-growing wholesale fibre broadband operator, has announced that its full fibre multi-gigabit network rollout in Huntingdon is now underway as part of an investment of up to £11.4 million in the area.
Netomnia will provide Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband infrastructure to around 38,000 premises in Huntingdon and the surrounding areas, delivering access to its robust and reliable broadband network and helping to future-proof and diversify the local economy.
The company is partnering with Opals Group to roll out its broadband infrastructure, enabling speedy deployment using cutting edge optical solutions.
Located in the East of England, Huntingdon is a market town in Cambridgeshire, rich in history having been given town charter by King John in 1205. The historic town is also the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell who became an MP in the 17th century. Today the market town plays host to many local businesses, including the Hinchingbrooke Business Park, as well as the Huntingdon Racecourse.
Jeremy Chelot, Chief Executive Officer at Netomnia, commented: “We’re proud to be providing residents and business in Huntingdon with access to a broadband network they deserve.
"Our full fibre network delivers high speed broadband capability directly to each property which means residents will be able to access broadband speeds of up to 10 Gbps, allowing them to stream on multiple devices at once and do just about anything online with minimal disruption.
Along with YouFibre, an internet service provider, Netomnia has secured £418 million in funding since 2020 to support its rollout strategy and will soon be starting its first rollout in Northern Ireland, in a bid to become the first alt-net with network present in all four countries in the UK.
Netomnia makes wholesale connectivity available to Internet Service Providers (ISPs), building the infrastructure for their broadband services. Its network supports symmetrical (equal upload and download speeds) multi-gigabit services up to 10 Gbps (10,000 Mbps) using XGS-PON technology; this means ISPs using Netomnia’s network will be able to offer their customers reliable ultrafast speeds for decades to come.
